The Owners
MCLR Financial Center has three owners, each with an intimate understanding of income taxes and the workings of small business. All three are active in the day to day operations of the firm and in providing service to clients, though having two owners named Steve can sometimes be a source of confusion.

Steve has been in the financial service arena since 1974, founding Mid Michigan Business Services in 1981. He was conferred the designation as an Accredited Business Accountant (ABA) by the Accreditation Council for Accountancy Taxation (ACAT) in 1988, is enrolled to practice before the Internal Revenue Service as an Enrolled Agent (EA), and is also a Registered Representative (RR) dealing with investments. He is currently the President of the Michigan Society of Enrolled Agents, and is a Past-President of both the Michigan Association of Financial Service Professionals (MAFSP) and what is now known as the Michigan Tax and Accounting Professionals (previously the Independent Accountants Association of Michigan or IAAM). He is a 1976 graduate of the University of Michigan with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree and a Minor in Accounting.

Steve started his accounting career working for Jim Mann in 1978 and soon became part-owner of Mann-Coates & Co., Inc. He was conferred the designation as an Accredited Business Accountant (ABA) by the Accreditation Council for Accountancy & Taxation (ACAT) in 1992, and is a member of the National Society of Accountants. He is a Past-President of what is now known as the Michigan Tax and Accounting Professionals (previously the Independent Accountants Association of Michigan or IAAM). He was recently awarded the Key to the City of Burton for over 25 years of involvement with the business community as an original member of the Downtown Development Authority and through the Burton Chamber of Commerce, where he currently serves as Treasurer. He is a 1978 graduate of Ferris State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting.

David started his career as a computer specialist in 1979, going off on his own in 1982, specializing in custom programming for business applications. His client list eventually included both Mid Michigan Business Services and Mann-Coates & Co.,Inc. He became Enrolled to Practice Before the Internal Revenue Service as an Enrolled Agent (EA) in 1988, and was conferred the designations of Accredited Tax Preparer (ATA) and Accredited Tax Advisor (ATP) by the Accreditation Council for Accountancy & Taxation (ACAT) in 1991. He is a 1979 graduate of the University of Michigan with a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science and a Minor in Accounting.
